Add the following parameter to the OBJECT tag:

Change of rules on eBay

Before we move on the techniques, you need to know the new change of rules on digital product sold on eBay. And here is the link from the official site…

http://www2.ebay.com/aw/core/200803241300132.html

And the key sentence is…

“…To preserve the integrity of the Feedback system, effective March 31 all goods that can be digitally downloaded or transferred electronically must be listed using the Classified Ads format.”

Now you cannot sell digital products including ebook, audio, video etc using regular listing format, but only as classified ads that cost $9.95 to list for 30 days.

So, what can you do now? Here are some possible approaches…

Using Classified Ads to sell digital products

The most obvious option is to follow what the ebay says: sell downloads using classified ads. However, if you have not realized, there are some restrictions comparing with normal listing…

There is no feedback involved because it is not considered as a trade but an ads.

You cannot post any web links to any sites. And that means you cannot add a “buy now” button.

The only way you can do is to leave your email, or phone contact (like skype). You can create an autoresponder message, which is available in most popular email service provider. The message will include a link to product details and purchase button.

For this purpose, successful email delivery is very important. I highly recommend you to use a third party autoresponder service providers such as:

GetResponse

Aweber

You can also build a mailing list in this manner, so that you can carry out further marketing campaigns.

Burn into CD/DVD discs

If you insist on selling using the traditional way, you then have to convert digital products into tangible items that can be shipped. In other words, burn the product on a CD/DVD disc. This is permitted, and in fact that’s what many ebay sellers are doing right now. To do this, you can…

Manual approach – Burn the digital products onto a CD/DVD disc using cd burning software from brands like Nero, Alcohol.

Automatic approach – Using digital cd/DVD manufacturing and publishing service, such as Kunaki or SwiftCD.

The first option will require you spend more time, but everything will be under your control. The second approach can save you a lot of hassles in doing the tedious stuff such as disc burning and packaging. But you cannot have control over the shipping process.

If your business has just get started, you can burn the disc and ship the products yourself. This will give more personalization and control over the whole process. To speed up the task, consider to buy a multi-disc burner or disc duplicator. But these are not cheap.

Start your own ebook shop now!

If you don’t feel like selling digital products through auction sites, why not setup your ebook shop and establish your brand instead? Check out this ebook shop at ebook-bargains.com. You will find a free resale right package and lots of business products to jump-start your ebook business.

And chances are that the administration section enforces a file size limit (like phpmyadmin). Pasting the sql content will be also tiresome. Here is the simplest, bullet-proof way to solve the problem.

Get the bigdump file from here.

Edit the php file – change the database setting essentially.

Upload the sql to your server with your favorite ftp program. It seems to support gzip.

Run bigdump.php.

And that’s it! Very convenient. Credit to http://www.ozerov.de/bigdump.php
