This does not work in Win 7 64 bit even after a restart of FireFox 3.x. Possibly a complete operating system restart may enable the reset. I’ll see

You need also to delete the content of the folder
searchplugins\ICQ*.* in the user setting

Unfortunately, Yahoo has found a way to by-pass these changes to the Firefox about:config file. As much as I change 3 files having to do with the default engine, Yahoo still manages to sneak in there!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, by the way, evidently this is the fix for any program that has hijacked the default search because bing that did this to me. I try soooo hard to watch out for automatic add-ons and changes of default but somehow they insidiously find a way to sneak by.
